Practical insights from industry experts – students of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Freiburg will be even better prepared for their careers in the future. They will receive concrete examples from modern analytics, enabling them to better apply their study content. For this new methods course, the Institute of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry receives 19,000 euros from the Chemical Industry Fund (FCI), the funding body of the German Chemical Industry Association (VCI). Additionally, the department receives 15,420 euros to support the teaching of ethics and sustainability in pharmacology. Dr. Raphael Vogler, CEO of ChemCon GmbH in Freiburg, symbolically presented the sum to Prof. Dr. Michael Müller, head of the working group, and Dr. Lydia Walter from the Institute of Pharmaceutical and Medicinal Chemistry.
Raphael Vogler emphasized during the handover: "I am pleased that we can support academic teaching with such a significant amount from industry. As a former graduate of the University of Freiburg, I was involved in a spin-off, so the connection between teaching and practice has a very personal significance in my professional life. Therefore, I am glad that this symbiosis is reflected in the funding. On the one hand, we are promoting ethics, and on the other, a very practical methods course in which students learn about the daily challenges faced by companies like ChemCon GmbH." The University of Freiburg has thus established the first pharmacology chair with a mandatory course on "Ethics and Sustainability."
